Ascent is a private, self-hosted planner and phone-discipline app for Android, maintained by Aditri Connected Solutions. This policy describes what the app holds, where it is kept, and what happens to data from a connected Google account.
Ascent is not a hosted commercial service. Each installation is run by the person who set it up, on a server they control. The developer has no access to the data held by any installation other than their own. For this installation, the operator can be reached at amitsaxena01@gmail.com.
| Data | Why it exists | Where it is kept |
|---|---|---|
| Tasks, goals, plans, notes, reminders and schedules | The core function of the app | On the phone, and on the operator's own server |
| Focus sessions and progress records | To report how the day went and to pace future plans | On the phone, and on the operator's own server |
| App usage times and which apps were opened | To show where time goes and to enforce daily limits | On the phone only. Never transmitted |
| Account email address and a password hash | To sign in | On the operator's own server |
| Google access and refresh tokens, if Google is connected | To sync and to write backups on your behalf | On the operator's own server, encrypted at rest |
Ascent reads which applications are running on the device in order to apply limits and focus rules. This happens entirely on the phone. The contents of other apps are not read, recorded or sent anywhere.
Connecting Google is optional and can be undone at any time. Ascent works fully without it. When you connect, Google asks you to approve specific permissions. Ascent requests only these:
| Permission | What Ascent does with it |
|---|---|
drive.file |
Creates and reads backup files in a folder named Ascent Backups in your Drive. This permission grants access only to files Ascent itself created. Ascent cannot see, read or modify any other file in your Drive. |
calendar.events |
Reads your events so the day can be planned around them, and writes scheduled tasks to your primary calendar as events. |
tasks |
Two-way sync between Ascent tasks and Google Tasks. |
openid, email |
Identifies your account so signing in with Google matches you to the right data. Only the email address is stored. |
Ascent does not request access to Gmail, Contacts, Photos, Drive at large, or any other Google service.
Nobody. Ascent contains no advertising, no analytics service, no crash reporting service and no third-party trackers. Data is not sold, rented or transferred. The only network destinations the app contacts are the operator's own server and, where Google has been connected, Google's own APIs.
No system is perfectly secure. This is a small, self-hosted application, and its security depends in part on how the operator maintains their server.
Data is kept until you delete it. Tasks and plans can be deleted in the app at any time. Drive backups are kept as ordinary files in your Drive — Ascent keeps the ten most recent in its folder and moves older ones to your Drive bin, where you control them like any other file.

Drive.Ascent is designed to be used by young people under a parent's supervision, and includes a parent-held PIN for the settings that control limits. Where a minor uses the app, the account is expected to be set up and overseen by their parent or guardian, who is responsible for the data held in that installation. Ascent collects nothing from a child beyond what is described above, and shares nothing with anyone.
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Material changes to what data is collected or how it is used will also require you to approve the Google permissions again.
