Ascent Rise to what matters.

A planner that helps you start, not just a list that waits

Ascent is an Android app for planning the day and keeping a phone from eating it. It sorts work by what is important and what is merely urgent, breaks long plans into days, runs focus sessions, and puts limits on the apps that quietly take hours. It was built for a family, for someone who finds getting started harder than finishing.

Ascent is a private, self-hosted application. It is not on the Play Store and is not sold. Each installation runs against its owner's own server. There is no shared service, no advertising, and no analytics.

What it does

Plans the day. Tasks carry an importance, an urgency, a time estimate and dependencies, and the day is arranged around what can actually be done now.
Runs focus sessions. While a session is on, distracting apps are gated and messaging is held until it ends.
Limits time sinks. Daily allowances per app, wind-down rules at night, and a gradual reduction for whatever is taking the most time.
Imports long plans. A term's worth of goals can be uploaded as a file and spread across the weeks.
Backs up to your own Google Drive, if you connect a Google account.

Google account connection

Connecting a Google account is optional. Ascent works fully without one. When connected, it can sync tasks with Google Tasks, put scheduled work on Google Calendar, and write backups to a folder called Ascent Backups in that account's own Drive.

Ascent requests access only to files it creates in Drive. It cannot read the rest of your Drive, and it never asks for access to Gmail, contacts or photos. What is collected and why is set out in full in the privacy policy.
